What the hell Fergie? That's what the general public is asking the Black Eyed Peas singer after a disastrous rendition of the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game.

In what initially looked to be an attempt to emulate Marvin Gaye's 1983 rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, things begin to go horribly wrong as the singer slinked up to the microphone and did what can only be described as her version of Eartha Kitt doing the National Anthem if Kitt had taken several quaaludes beforehand. Imagine if The Graduate was a musical and Fergie was Mrs. Robinson trying to seduce all of America.

It. Did. Not. Work.

The phrasing ("through the PEAAAAR-RUGH-LIS fiiiiiiiiight") was a hot mess. By the time she screeched her way up an octave at the end of "but our flag was still therrrrrrre.......OOOOOOhOOhhOOh" audience members including Chance the Rapper and Jimmy Kimmel were visibly laughing. Players including Draymond Green and LeBron James stood there mouths agape looking completely dumbfounded. Forget kneeling. I'm amazed everyone didn't walk out just to protest this rendition.

By the time the Duchess made it through the very last word of "braaaaaaave" (that alone last seven seconds), Fergie exclaimed "Let's play some basketball!" looking very proud of herself thinking that she nailed it. The only thing she nailed was another nail in the coffin of her once-promising solo career.
